Simple sketch to creating bags using the builders

Builders

Did you ever want to design your own bag and have full control over its details?

My builders are a great way to do so. They limit the myriad of possible styles and options to a restraint collection of clear choices to help you through the process and prevent you from getting lost along the way.

Below you can find the currently available builders and a detailed guide of the entire process. In short, you first build the bag and submit it as a a free inquiry. Then we’ll find your favorite fabrics and afterwards you decide if you want to commission the bag by transferring the advance payment (15% of the costs).

If at any point you are confused or unsure, or if you would like to have styles that aren’t available, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am more than happy to provide help, answers and customize your bag even further!

There is also a glossary to assist you with the commonly used terms on this site.

Process overview

1. Shop

""

To build a bag, you first need to choose its principal component, the main bag. It defines its overall looks, shape and possible functionality. You can find the available main bags in the current builders section above and in the shop.
Each main bag comes in different sizes and variants. Please make sure you select your desired choices before opening the builder as they lead to separate configurators.

2. Builder

""

Select add-ons

All builders are composed in a very similar way and split into three general sections:

  • Overall style: options on styles, handles and closures
  • Pockets & Co: cycle through all four sides (outside & inside, front & back) to add zipper pockets (top), slip pockets (bottom) and lanyards (side)
  • Fabrics: choices for color groups and patterns styles

Note: You can add comments on the checkout page if you want alterations, have questions and want a specific color or pattern

Fabric preferences

Fabric preferences are deeply personal and each bag has its own requirements. Thus, I found the best way to help you find a fabric you love is by first telling me which types of colors and patterns you prefer. I will then use your input as a basis to suggest suitable fabrics. Don´t worry, if you are unsure or change your mind later, this is only the start point.

If you already found a fabric you liked in the fabric gallery or bag gallery, you can add its ID (or the ID of the bag you saw it on) to the comment section on the checkout page and I will then check if I still have enough of it and if it is suitable for your project.

Note: Please be aware that colors on the screen might vary a bit from the actual colors.

3. Inquiry

""

Once you are happy with the functionalities of you bag, add your bag to the cart and proceed to checkout. The payment has been deactivated for this store and thus you submit the inquiry (“buy it”) without paying anything yet.
I will receive your order, check the details and look for fabrics.

Note: You are free to cancel the inquiry at any point before approving the final invoice (Step 7). Afterwards, the cancellation fee is the advance payment.

4. Start process

""

When I have received your inquiry, I will start the process on my end. I will check if all details are feasible and if there is something that might be worth to discuss.
Based on your input and the type of bag you would like to have, I will send you several suggestions of matching fabrics.
You can expect this to take about 2-4 working days and I will contact you in the way you marked as preferred (email, call, WhatsApp, Signal, etc).

5. Fabric choices

""

Fabrics are a truly defining aspect of bags, making their selection a crucial part of the building process. We’ll keep searching until you are completely content with each fabric in the combination. From my experience it takes a few messages and many pictures back and forth to decide on all the fabrics and materials (e.g color of zipper or buttons).

There are three possible sources of the fabrics:

  • My fabric library (included in the price)
  • We search and buy a new one (+ shipping costs and possible fabric price difference)
  • You send me a fabric (after my confirmation that it is suitable for this project)

Please be aware that colors on the screen might vary a bit from the actual colors. I will send you pictures with all the fabric combinations and materials together so you can see them side by side and get a better feeling if you like them together.

6. Invoice

""

Once we have worked out all the details, I will re-check everything and then add all information into a single document. This summary will also contain the final price, which consists of the bag costs from the inquiry (the one you saw at checkout), the shipping costs and, if applicable, surcharges for alterations and special materials.
You can expect this step to take about 2-4 working days.

7. Commission

""

Please carefully check all details in the final summary I send you as this is your last chance to make changes. If you agree with everything, give me your confirmation and transfer the advance payment (15 % of the total costs). With these two actions you confirm that you commission pocketfrenzy (me) to produce the bag as stated in the invoice.

8. Production

""

Once I have received your confirmation and advance payment, I will start making the bag. From this point on I can no longer make changes or reimburse you the initial payments as I will use the material. When the bag is finished, I will take pictures and send them to you. Depending on the complexity of the bag and my current work load, this step can take up to 20 working days (4 weeks).

Note: The pictures of the new bag will be added to my database. However, without your explicit permission I will not make them public or send them to a third party.

9. Approval

""

The pictures of your newly finished bag are for you to check if everything was done as you have wished, ensuring that the bag looks like you wanted and has all the correct features. If you are happy with the result, pay the remaining 85% of the costs.

10. Shipping

""

When the full payment has been received, I will carefully pack your bag and send it to you. My default shipping service is PostNL (Dutch postal service, with tracking) with the following shipping costs:
– Netherlands: € 6
– Europa 1: € 10 (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain)
– Europa 2: € 13 (Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Portugal, UK)
– Europa 3: € 15 (rest of Europe)
– Outside Europe: possible upon request

11. Enjoy

""

You can finally hold your new bag! Please check it and send me a brief confirmation that everything is in order.
Then the process is complete and I wish that your new bag becomes a great companion to you for a very long time!
