Shoppers

Shopping bags are the workhorses of bags. They are used to haul all types of loads from one place to another, including groceries, documents, toys, presents, items from shopping sprees and for beach days, weekends away and many, many more occasions. You can also use it as a handbag all on its own.

I make the shopper series out of sturdy fabrics that securely carry even very heavy weights. They are long living and whenever they get dirty, you can just throw them into the washing machine. They are also soft and thus easy to bundle up and stuff into your bag for later use.

Shape

Currently, I offer one basic shape of shopper. Its deep, flat bottom, straight sides and soft texture make the bag very spacious but still very comfortable to carry.

By default, the bag has two shoulder handles and no closure.

The shopper comes in three styles:

Lined & straight top edge (for maximum space)
Lined & curved top edge (for a softer shape)
Unlined & straight edge (to minimize bag weight and volume)

Available Sizes

To cover most applications, I offer the shopper in six sizes (XXS-XL).

These sizes gets progressively larger in width and depth while the height only slowly increases. The XXS has the size of a typical small tote bag and the XL is similar to an IKEA shopping bag.

The curved version has the same dimensions but swoops a bit lower in the center between the handles.

Add-on: handles

The shopper includes two shoulder handles with a comfortable length and width (56 cm and 3.5 cm). They are long enough to lie on your shoulder but also short enough to carry in your outstretched hand. However, if you prefer another handle, you can check out the types here.

Add-on: pockets

There are so many different types of pockets but I am trying to keep things very simple. Thus, I have limited the options to the four types of pockets I find the most useful.

All pockets can be attached outside and inside, front and back. They can be made as a single compartment or divided into several using seams. The possible attach types are Inset and Attach (not Overlay due to the way shoppers are constructed).

Add-on: lanyards

To make sure it is easy to find your keys and never forget them, you can also add lanyards to the lining of your bag.

Closures

In general, shoppers are open and do not have any type of closure. However, to obtain a little more security, you can add a magnetic closure or snap button to keep the top of the front and back of the bag together.

Fabrics

Composition

To make the shoppers sturdy, comfortable and long-living, I use upholstery fabrics and heavy cotton twill (both typically 80% cotton and 20% polyester) inside and outside

Feature fabric

To cover a wide range of preferences in colors and patterns, I opted for collecting a large amount of types fabrics but only a small amount of each. Therefore, I recommend to choose your preferred base color and pattern category. I will then send you a few suggestions.

Fabric sets

I like to make shoppers from a feature fabric (outside and top edge inside) and a plain colored twill fabric (handles, bottom and lining). This makes the bags sturdier and gives them a clean look. Pockets and lanyards I add in suitable cotton fabrics.
